This site has pioneered how others think and react in Texas. We originated the Free Group Shoots concept, and many other beneficial activities that have been copied and duplicated... but which never matched for long-term success and integrity. In fact, those duplicating what we do here started out as members of this site learning how to do what they now emulate. Membership to this site is FREE OF CHARGE, but you must register before you can view and participate. "Free Group Shoots" are and always have been free-of-charge, not "free low cost," or some other formulation designed to separate you from your money. Newly registered accounts on this site are approved as quickly as possible, generally within several hours of your submission application (but may take up to 24 hours).

What exactly is the Free Group Shoot? Local photographers DONATE their time to come out and shoot for models and actors who are a part of this forum website. There is not and never has been any fee ever asked for from the models and talent that attend, and these shoots have taken place almost every month, once or more per month in fact, since 2002. This site has over 7,300 registered members from across Central Texas and covering Austin, Houston, San Antonio, and Dallas. Depending upon membership level, readers may access as many as 40 different forum categories ranging from free photo shoots, model and actor oriented photography discussion, modeling and acting industry, casting calls, and sections devoted to individual cities.

Our Charity involvement in the Texas Community is one of our strongest assets - Our forum members take part in many great events that benefit such organizations as those helping battered women, children, animals, and other related things. During 2007, we plan some huge charity events that will include a variety of celebrity and media involvement, including the ORPHAN 2007 adventure.

This site is closely monitored by site Administrators and is maintained as safe for all ages. There is no nudity or adult Internet modeling oriented activities here, no rants and complants or slander, and no listings of recommended photographers. The community is strictly what it is, a reflection of the thousands of members who take part and network here.

ARE YOU LOOKING FOR MODELING OR ACTING AGENCY REPRESENTATION?

Gaining more exposure and good photos is a great start to locking in agent interest. Agencies receive hundreds of submissions every month and simply cannot sort and respond to all who submit. You need to get their attention. You also need to learn and understand what kinds of questions to ask, what fee's you should or should not pay (if ANY!), and how to conduct yourself before and after signing with licensed professional representation. You can learn here by reading or asking questions. Participation is the key to learning! Building a diverse portfolio is important also, not just a cookie-cutter book of camera stares.

The Internet is filled with misinformation and scams generally designed to take your money. Do not pay anything up front to anyone promising you work and if someone offers to "list you" in their database for potential modeling or acting jobs... make sure first that they have a bond and license as issued by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. In Texas, it is against the law to promise jobs in exchange for mandatory up front fees (real agents make money by commission from work they provide for you), and it is also illegal to represent talent (even if you receive no kick back fee or commissions), without proper licensing (this includes "talent managers"). The Texas Models & Talent Forum helps you to learn by your reading of articles and message postings, and allows you to ask questions and discuss the business with other models, actors, parents, photographers, and agents. Speak to real people in the business and also watch as they post their tear sheets and achievements. YES... the talent here are booking jobs in real and commercial avenues.

A lot of online sites offer “model portfolios” for photographers to trade time with. Photographers try to set up free shoots, but are often disappointed. This is because many online model sites accept anyone and are often just a collection of people playing on the computer. The Texas Models & Talent Forum, however, offers photographers an opportunity to meet and work with talent OF ALL AGES who have serious mainstream career goals. Many, in fact, have agents and are very serious about their careers. This site encourages photographers who are looking to work commercially the opportunity to meet the kind of talent to shoot that will create portfolio material that can land a wide range of real paying jobs – from portrait work, to event, to model and actor headshots / portfolios, to advertising.
